Landfill Closure / Operations & Maintenance

  • Municipal Landfill, Mountain View, California
Blymyer Engineers, Inc., as the engineer of record, developed and implemented an operation and maintenance (O&M) project for the closed 544-acre Shoreline Landfill. The O&M project was performed to maintain compliance with the regulatory-approved landfill closure plan. The O&M plan included performing field surveys using both conventional and GPS-based surveys to identify the location and perimeter limits of subsidence zones resulting from settlement of landfill materials. Additional field surveys were also performed to identify areas where surface drainage improvements and slope modifications were necessary. Engineering plans and specifications were prepared. Blymyer Engineers, Inc. assisted in observation of the improvements and prepared the final report. Field work was coordinated so that burrowing owl habitat was not impacted.

Recycling Center Transfer Station

  • Fremont, California
Blymyer Engineers, Inc. was retained by JR Miller Architects to provide complete civil design for this 13 acres site for the Fremont garbage disposal and recycling center. The project included re-grading and re-paving for the entire site, design of the storm water retaining and treatment system, as well as design of water and sewer service to the building. Our scope of work also included the preparation of a site-specific Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), erosion control plan and extensive involvement in addressing FEMA regulatory issues since the site is located in a designated flood zone. Full support was provided to the client during the permitting and construction bidding process.
