Blymyer celebrates 65 years of growth and service

Blymyer Engineers is celebrating its 65th year in business in 2026. Blymyer began in 1961 with a focus on industrial engineering and project management, and it has since grown into a full-service renewable energy engineering firm and industry leader. Today, Blymyer has engineered over 30 GW of solar capacity. Blymyer’s team of over 80 skilled engineers and staff across the U.S. and Europe excels at services ranging from feasibility studies and conceptual designs to the engineering of entire facilities.

Utility-scale solar leads the nation’s electricity growth

Utility-scale solar is the fastest-growing electricity source in the nation. Blymyer’s multidisciplinary design and engineering services have evolved alongside the industry. “With over six decades of business, we have grown remarkably as a renewable energy engineering firm,” says Blymyer President Mike Rantz. “The size of our solar projects has grown too. In 2023—only three years ago—we engineered 2.5 GW of utility-scale solar. In 2026, we’ve engineered nearly 6 GW.”

Blymyer is meeting the increased demand for PV and BESS as the need for renewable energy accelerates nationwide. Just a few years ago, utility-scale solar and storage projects were a tenth the size they are today. In 2023, Blymyer’s utility-scale solar projects averaged 230 MW in capacity, a third of the size of our 2026 PV+BESS projects.
