From 2010 to 2015, the amount of wind power generated in California doubled, from six million MW to over twelve million MW. According to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the total installed wind capacity in the United States as of 2016 (over 82,000 MW) could supply 24 million homes with electricity for a year. AWEA also notes that over $140 billion has been invested in wind power projects during the ten-year period ending in 2016.
