Collaboration, coordination, and credentials – the key to success in environmental services

For over 30 years, an integral part of Blymyer’s services portfolio is helping clients stay in compliance with environmental regulations. By taking a comprehensive approach, we assist companies in a broad range of industries in minimizing their per-facility costs and fulfilling their obligations.
Blymyer’s comprehensive range of environmental services include
- Industrial storm water compliance – We’ve been a leader in this area since the 1990s, when the EPA began requiring industrial facilities to obtain National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits.
- Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBPs) and Tier II Reporting – For facilities whose work requires the storage of hazardous materials, we provide expert guidance in meeting federal, state and local reporting requirements.
- Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans (SPCCs) – The SPCC rule established by the EPA requires facilities to develop, maintain and implement an oil spill prevention plan, called an SPCC Plan. The purpose is to help facilities prevent a discharge of oil into navigable waters or adjoining shorelines.
- Energy Benchmarking – Blymyer Engineers performs these services for a wide range of companies throughout California. This process is required for owners of large commercial and multifamily buildings, who must report their facilities’ total energy usage by June 1 of every calendar year, as mandated by The California Energy Commission.
Cross-functional teams with a range of expertise ensure success
The Blymyer compliance and environmental services team includes people with a range of certifications, including IGP (Industrial General Permit) and QISP (Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner). “Environmental services not only require expertise and credentials in a variety of areas but also the ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of people in the client’s organization.
“Whether we’re focused on one facility or hundreds nationwide, coordination and collaboration are integral to the way we work. Whatever service we’re performing—training, stormwater sample testing, reporting, and more—our team is dedicated to building seamless relationships with everyone who touches the process,” says Nina Schitli, an IGP and QISP trainer of record with the Blymyer Compliance Group. “We coordinate with clients’ environmental health and safety personnel along with their sustainability departments, as well as with plant engineers and facility managers.”
